Climate Change in 60 Seconds

We’ve known about climate change for over 120 years. The science is settled, but the debate still rumbles on.

The Earth receives energy from the sun and reflects it back out as heat. For most of human history, energy in was equal to energy out, keeping our climate stable.

Then came the Industrial Revolution.

Burning coal, oil, and gas released excess carbon dioxide, a gas that acts like insulation. Sunlight gets in, but heat can’t escape.

The result? A planet getting hotter.

That extra heat disrupts balance:

  • Storms hit harder

  • Droughts last longer

  • Ice melts faster, raising sea levels and threatening communities.

And the evidence is overwhelming. Whether it’s sea levels, polar ice, or ocean temperatures, every indicator shows humans are heating the planet, more than ten times faster than the natural warming after the last Ice Age.

The solution is net zero:

Cut emissions as close to zero as possible, and remove the rest.

It’s a massive task, but every action counts, from powering our homes to running our businesses.
